Why Are You Writing a Business Plan?

I had a business plan drop on my desk recently that made a big thud. It was over fifty pages in text and 15 pages in spreadsheets. It had month-by-month proforma for the next three years and then years four and five by quarters. The irony of the business being an environmental play was obvious but not the point of this blog which is, why spend the time writing a b-plan? Here are a few reasons:
