U.S. needs workers who can think for themselves, expert says

For businesses to thrive in the increasingly competitive global economy, they must find workers who can adapt quickly and think for themselves, journalist Hedrick Smith told a full house at the Columbia River Economic Development Council’s quarterly investors luncheon at the Hilton Vancouver Washington on Thursday.
To develop those workers, Smith said, the U.S. needs to do a better job of teaching young people to think critically, and of preparing every student for the ever-changing work force.
