Pocatello pitches in to help struggling polysilicon maker, Holu Scientific
September 1, 2009 /
As Hoku’s http://www.hokuscientific.com/planned Pocatello-area polysilicon plant stumbles under financing woes, the city is stepping up to help. Mayor Roger Chase said his office, along with the Bannock Development Corporation, is working to secure a federal alternative energy development loan guarantee for the Hawaii-based firm, which manufactures polysilicon for the solar panel market.
“I would imagine that that we’ll have the grant prepared here in the next week,” Chase said in an interview late last week. “We think it’s probably 30 to 60 days out before we’ll know. That’s what I’m thinking.”
