Directors Message:

A Big Job To Do In 2010

I hope that everyone enjoyed a happy start to 2010. This year, we will continue working with small businesses
to make sure they have the tools they need to thrive, grow, and create jobs. We’ll continue our successful Recovery
programs and provide the access to capital businesses need to expand, buy inventory or equipment, or
hire that additional worker.

SBA offers business owners and entrepreneurs the training and counseling they
need to plan for the year ahead. We will work hard to meet our goals for small business contracting, and help
women, minorities, and veterans use our programs to grow their business. And we will be there for business
owners and home owners affected by any natural disasters the year may bring.

In 2010, the SBA will find ways to support the fastest growing small businesses that are the cornerstone of
American competitiveness. We’ll also turn our attention to encouraging small business exporting, which presents
an opportunity to grow our economy and strengthen global presence.

The SBA has a big job to do in 2010, and we look forward to working with businesses throughout the state,
other agencies and resource partners in achieving these goals.
I am honored to work with such a great small business community in Montana, and I look forward to the road
ahead.

Michelle Johnston,
District Director
