AMI Semiconductor and Idaho State University officials ink deal for semiconductors
April 18, 2006 /
AMI Semiconductor and Idaho State University officials signed a joint research agreement to develop "organic semiconductors" for the production of optical devices, such as light-emitting diodes, solar cells, photodiodes, contact image sensors and diode lasers.
Organic materials are an important new class of semiconductors that combine the virtues of plastics or polymers, which can be easily shaped, with those of semiconductors, which are the basis of all microelectronics. ISU’s chemistry and engineering programs will be involved in the research.
