A lot of energy – Montana State University ag researchers keep exploring potential of biodiesel fuel
Researchers at the MSU Eastern Agricultural Research Center http://www.sidney.ars.usda.gov/state/ are working steadily to do their part to make environmentally friendly biodiesel fuel.
“I wouldn’t classify it as a big part, just a part of producing biodiesel fuel that may serve the energy needs,” says chemist Charles Flynn, Ph.D., who’s been testing crops since 2006. The center is part of a nation-wide effort to find alternative sources of fuel. Testing mainly oil seed crops, Flynn and ag center superintendent Jerry Bergman compare which locally produced crops have the best chance of becoming a major fuel alternative.
