Why Are Colorado Ski Resorts Importing Foreign Labor?

The Denver Post reports this morning that Colorado’s ski resorts are offering South American students a glimpse into life in the United States by hiring them to work for the season. But critics of the federal cultural exchange programs that allow that to happen say the resorts are abusing the system and turning them into another avenue for workers’ visas.

At issue are the motivations of the ski resorts: are they offering an opportunity for foreign youth to experience the grandeur of ski life, or are they exploiting them to fill a need for cheap labor?
