Choteau applies for Main Street Montana project

Community development advocate and Choteau City Councilwoman Corlene Martin has applied for the Montana Main Street Program on behalf of Choteau’s Main Avenue business district.

Run by the state Department of Commerce, the Main Street Program is a comprehensive approach to the revitalization of traditional business districts. The program encourages economic development within the context of historic preservation.

Fairview applies for Main Street program

Fairview is one of 13 communities in the state that has applied to be one of two pilot communities in the Montana Department of Commerce’s Main Street program.

Ray Trumpower, chairman of the Fairview Chamber of Commerce, says the program assists communities with revitalizing strategies.

“It’s a very flexible program. You don’t have to do it this way or that way,” Trumpower said. “They do say which way works and what you probably should do.”
