And we believe businesses can—and should—play a role in ensuring that all
young people have opportunities to develop the full range of skills they need to
succeed in work, in life and as educated and
engaged citizens.
Beyond the moral imperative,
preparing the next generation of workers is a
matter of enlightened self-interest for millions
of business leaders nationwide. We simply cannot
afford to write off an entire generation of new
entrants to the workforce.
What, then, can be done? To begin with, we believe
we must take a new and markedly different
approach to prepare our nation’s young people
for adulthood.
