The Insider: Starbucks Chief Executive Howard Schultz dishes out advice for businesses to think of their long-term benefit

History has shown that American businesses will be the savior of U.S. economic woes, according to Starbucks Chief Executive Howard Schultz.

Schultz wrote an opinion column, "Yes Business Can," for The Huffington Post last week. The Huffington Post is a liberal-leaning online news site.

Businesses need to think long term, keep investing in people and communities and not fixate on the short term, he said.
