Theodore von Kármán once said, “The scientist seeks to understand what is; the engineer seeks to create what never was.”
On Tuesday, June 17, at noon in the TechRanch http://techranch.org conference room, Robert Marley, dean of the MSU College of Engineering, will share aspects of the College’s research focus areas and examples of how teams of faculty and students have developed or enhanced new products and technologies for local and national businesses. You might be surprised to know that half of all engineering and computer science grads are staying in state — a real testament to the economic vitality in Montana.
As dean of Montana State University’s College of Engineering, Robert Marley oversees MSU’s Engineering Experiment Station and its research that aids Montana’s technology sector. The COE, with industry support, has recently built new research and instructional spaces and established “cornerstone” research labs and consortia. Federal funding has bolstered research in biofilms, imaging, snow science, microfabrication, transportation, and fuel cells. Such research activity throughout MSU has led to its top-10 ranking in Technology Transfer.
Please RSVP to plee@techranch.org by Monday, June 16 2008.

We encourage everyone to bring their own lunch to mid-day events because food is not provided by TechRanch. Our educational presentations are developed based on the requests and needs of our constituents; thus, if you have suggestions for future TREK events, please email them to plee@techranch.org. We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
