4 Yellowstone grants directed at science, kids

April 26, 2008

Yellowstone National Park will receive more than $1.5 million in federal and private funds for four projects as part of the National Park Service's Centennial Challenge program.

"These are great projects that help get more local kids in the park and improve collaboration between the Park Service and scientists," said Danielle Blank of the National Parks Conservation Association, a nonprofit group that lobbies on behalf of parks.

Yellowstone isn't the only winner. Glacier National Park will receive $490,000 for three projects, and North Dakota's Theodore Roosevelt National Park will get $150,000 for two projects.
