Startup entrepreneurs can be forgiven for suffering flashbacks to the dot-com bust several years ago given the recent rash of worrisome signs about their industry's health.
The U.S. economy is sputtering. Venture capital investment is declining. And to add to the gloom, a trickle of startups have shut down or sold out at fire sale prices.
Is it 2001 all over again? Or will the Web fare better this time around?
