The third annual Missoula Community Brew is sponsored by Big Sky Brewing (BSBC) and the Zoo

February 18, 2008

The brewery hosted a homebrew contest, and the winning beer, a Porter, created by John Masterson, was chosen as the winner.

As the winner, Masterson got to volunteer his labor and help BSBC brew the beer in a 600 gallon batch. The profits from the sale of the beer will be divided between the club, and a non-profit charity.

The charity chosen this year is the Garden City Harvest, a local organization that works to provide high quality food to low-income people, and offer education and training in ecologically conscious food production. They also have community gardens located around Missoula for the public to use. These gardens are also used for the personal restoration of troubled youth and adults.

More information about the organization can be found at http://www.gardencityharvest.org

The Zoo City Zymurgists homebrew club has welcomed home brewers and wine makers in and around Missoula, Montana since 1982. Club president Nathan Boot said: "Everyone in the club enjoys doing the Community Brew, and then getting a chance to help out the community and work with Big Sky Brewing is a great reward.

I would like to thank Big Sky Brewing for their efforts in the community and the club. The beer will be available to the public in the Big Sky Brewing tasting room starting on February 22nd. For more information and photos, please contact Matt Long at 406-549-2777 ex. 106 or visit:
