The project is advancing thanks to $940,000 in federal Defense Department funding approved by President Bush.
Ken Cornell, assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, says the project originated after the 2006 mosquito season, when Idaho led the nation in West Nile human infections.
