From their classroom doorways, teachers shout to students trudging shoulder-to-shoulder through the Browning High School hallway — "keep it moving," "keep to the right." A student lets out a long "Moooo!"
With 600 students crammed into a building built in the 1950s to accommodate 350 students, it's easy to understand why they might feel like cattle.
"We are traffic cops," U.S. history teacher Mary Jo Bremner said. "It's an everyday, every (class) period issue." Unlike their rural neighbors, Montana's reservation schools are seeing their enrollments go up.
