Scientist Mark Young brought out a small bag of green- and yellow-coated chocolate candies to explain something cool about viruses.
A virus is an M&M, Young said. It has a hard shell on the outside made of protein, and inside, the soft gooey stuff is DNA or RNA.
Young, a 50-year-old professor of plant science at Montana State University, grinned as he got into one of his favorite subjects.
