Soft Landing Missoula Presents Lecture: Timeless Iraq - 11/7 - Missoula, MT
6:00 PM
UC Theater on the University of Montana Campus
On Tuesday, November 7, join Soft Landing Missoula for its latest Soft Landing Missoula Presents lecture, "Timeless Iraq," a fresh look at this fascinating, fraught country. Presented by Mushtaq Al-Rashidany, a recent refugee now resettled in Missoula, the lecture begins at 6 p.m. in the UC Theater on the University of Montana Campus. This event is free and open to the public.

Mushtaq Al-Rashidany earned a master's degree in linguistics from UM in 2012, returned to Iraq, married, then sought refuge with his wife and unborn child from war and religious violence. He will recount their journey and paint a portrait of Iraq--its history, culture, and current situation.

Following the lecture, Soft Landing Missoula and the International Rescue Committee will give brief remarks about current resettlement efforts in Missoula and nationally, along with a 2018 outlook.

Sponsored by University of Montana Global Engagement, College of Humanities & Sciences, and the Davidson Honors College, this lecture is the latest in the "Soft Landing Missoula Presents" series, created to inform the Missoula community about the countries from which recent refugees have fled.

Soft Landing Missoula's mission is to help Missoula, Montana, be a welcoming, supportive and informed community that can assist refugees to integrate and thrive. For more information, visit
