Based in Missoula, Mont., Sun Mountain http://www.sunmountain.com/ is best known for its Superlight series, which provides bags at 2.5, 3.5 and 4.5 pounds. Notably, it also offers customized women’s and left-handed versions of some models.

The Superlight 2.5 has four pockets, composite fiberglass legs, a shock-resistant Chemlon nylon base and Dual-X strap and hip pad. The Superlight 3.5 features full-length club dividers, E-Z Fit strap and high-tensile aluminum legs. The Superlight 4.5 has eight pockets, a Dual-X strap and deluxe hip pad.

Just this fall, Sun Mountain introduced two RollerTop bags called Lightning and Lightning ES (for extra space), which check in at 3.9 and 4.9 pounds, respectively. Both bags feature a Dual-X strap, six-way divided top and graphite shaft protectors. The RollerTop is a handle that extends from the top of the bag which rotates when the golfer is removing the bag and placing it on the ground.

"[Try it] and you’ll find yourself wondering how you ever did without the RollerTop," said Rick Riemers, Sun Mountain founder/owner.

Suggested retail prices are $170 for the Lightning bag and $190 for the Lightning ES.
