Every year some 9,300 Montana teens graduate from high school and 44 percent have no plans to step foot in any college classroom anywhere.
Montana University System leaders want to persuade more of those students that they can go to college, that their test scores are good enough, that they can get financial aid, and that attending a two-year or four-year college would give them a brighter future.
Their plan, the Resident Student Access Initiative, would also boost the fortunes of Montana state campuses.
