University of Montana Leaders Look Toward Future in State of the University Address

University of Montana President Seth Bodnar delivered the annual State of the University address on Aug. 24 in front of a near-capacity crowd in the Montana Theatre on campus.

Breaking with tradition, the president invited leaders of the University’s shared governance groups – the student, faculty and staff senates – to share the podium with him during the address.

State of the University: Montana is on the rise, literally and physically

Along with a clear focus on student success and faculty engagement, the University of Montana is “on the rise” in many ways, Provost Jon Harbor assured the faculty, staff and students gathered for Friday’s State of the University address.

While highlighting the success of UM graduates including YouTube sensations Hank Green and Emily Graslie, Harbor said the school is literally on the rise – according to work by graduate student Ellen Knappe.
