S & K Technologies has landed large government contracts over the
past few years, including a $495 million contract for the United States Air
Force. SKT is contracted to assist the Air Force in maintaining its fleet of
aircraft through research and development of improved techniques for
prevention, detection and repair of corrosion. Another large contract
was awarded from the United States Department of Agriculture to provide
digital imagery and geographical information systems (GIS) mapping
information to the Farm Service Agency to assist it in better managing
farm loans and compliance activities. While SKT continues to receive
large contracts, they are intent on providing the best possible product
and support services.

Greg Dumontier, president and general manager of S & K
Technologies, is an enrolled member of the Confederated Salish and
Kootenai Tribes. Dumontier was born and raised in the Mission Valley
and continues to enjoy the benefits
of a rural lifestyle, even while being
immersed in the corporate world.

“Our business model was inspired
by the downturn of the manufacturing
industry in the 1980s and the
yet little-tapped market of information
technology services,” says
Dumontier. “We saw a niche in the
aerospace industry where they
needed IT support services, and we
are able to provide support from our hometown. That’s the beauty of
telecommunications. Our employees can telecommute across the globe.”

Corporate goals and objectives include facilitating the infusion of new
technology on the Flathead Indian Reservation, and providing educational
and employment opportunities for members of the Confederated Salish
and Kootenai Tribes.

SKT strives to preserve the tribe’s rich heritage, and
has fashioned a unique blend of old and new means to perpetuate tribal
culture, preserve natural resources, and provide economic well-being.

Blackfoot Telephone
Cooperative is proud to
provide telecommunications
services that enable S & K
Technologies to operate
globally out of rural Montana.
