NorthWestern Energy offers efficiency programs
NorthWestern Energy has a long commitment to energy efficiency in Montana dating back to the late 1970s. Rules and laws drive how NorthWestern is allowed to recover the costs of energy efficiency offerings. Current energy efficiency offerings are funded in one of two ways. The Universal System Benefits Charge (USBC), established by the Montana Legislature, is collected from all Montana customers and primarily funds the residential audit program and energy electric audit for commercial businesses; incentives for small scale renewables on non-profit or public facilities; and low income activities including bill discounts, emergency bill assistance through Energy Share of Montana and free weatherization.
