Montana Career Opportunity – Research & Information Services Bureau Chief – Montana Department of Commerce

This position serves as Bureau Chief in the Research and Information Services Bureau of the Montana Office of Tourism and Business Development Division. The Bureau Chief is the State of Montana liaison to the U.S. Census Bureau, responsible for developing and establishing program goals, objectives and operations; overseeing administrative and personnel issues for CEIC; managing program staff; coordinating the Department and the state’s involvement with the federal census programs; providing training, technical expertise and assistance to staff, other state agency employees, and the citizens of Montana; providing direction and oversight of federal-state cooperative SDC programs with the U.S. Census Bureau following the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the state and the Census Bureau; and determining the content and direction of the CEIC’s data resources and information systems.

This position is the final authority for ensuring that CEIC’s data resources are authoritative, timely and accurate which directly affects the quality of these services provided by the agency.

This position also performs a variety of other duties assigned by the Division Administrator. The position reports to the Montana Office of Tourism and Business Development Division Administrator and provides supervision of four FTE.

This position is located in the state’s capitol city of Helena and offers a wide variety of cultural and outdoor activities. Access to lakes, mountains, streams, hunting, fishing, and skiing are just minutes away.
