Learn to Eliminate Wasted Time and Effort and Boost Productivity Using Lean Principles

FVCC’s Continuing Education Center is offering a new class this spring to teach business owners and managers the fundamentals of eliminating wasteful activities that detract from a company’s growth and productivity. "Lean Operations: Improve Productivity through Efficiency" is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon on March 21, April 4 and April 18.

Bill Nicholson, a business advisor with Montana Manufacturing Extension Center, will teach participants how to identify and eliminate activities that do not add value to their products or services and are therefore of no value to their customers.

"Lean is a tool set, a management system and a philosophy that can change the way you organize and manage your operations, no matter what business you’re in," said Nicholson.

The Lean principles are based on the Toyota Production System (TPS), a successful model developed by the Toyota Group to reduce waste and improve overall customer value. The implementation of TPS is credited with propelling Toyota to its current standing as one of the world’s top auto manufacturers.
