Montana-made shed kit a snap

Most people don’t have barns in their back yards anymore.

But there may be room for a shed to put the lawn mower, chairs and assorted junk into.

Believe it or not, there’s a Made in Montana kit available to people who want to build a shed with some of its parts made in the state.

G&T Sales http://gtsales.us/ of Big Arm, on the west side of Flathead Lake, makes a set of three dozen metal connectors and brackets called a Fast Framer Kit for $49.95. The kit allows a customer to build a 7-foot-by-8-foot storage shed with a gable roof without having to cut angles. It also saves money over using a prefabricated or custom-built structure.

The customer buys his or her own lumber, including standard 2-by-4s, to use with the kit. Patented stud and angle brackets eliminate the need to make angle cuts.

Included with the kit are easy-to-follow instructions along with a list of required materials and tools. The only tools required are a hammer, power screwdriver or drill, saw, level, square, tape measure and a ladder.

The structure can be used as a mini-barn, tool shed, wood shed or greenhouse. An 8-by-14-foot shed can be built using two kits, and a 10-by-22-foot shed can be built using three kits.

Just try not to hit your thumb with the hammer.

For more information, visit http://www.gtsales.us or call (406) 849-5138. Kits can be ordered from the Web site.
