The State of Montana’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for implementing and ensuring compliance with legislative policy contained in the Montana Information Technology Act (2-17-504 through 531, MCA). The overarching policies of the Act require the development of information-technology resources in an organized, deliberative, and cost-effective manner; the State’s CIO is accountable to the governor, legislature, and citizens for the state’s information-technology resources.
