ComEd using electric car ride-sharing program to examine energy use

ComEd is test-driving a ride-sharing program on the South Side that uses electric vehicles exclusively, offering the utility a gauge of just how much power the plug-in cars use for such a service.

The pilot began in mid-December and only serves residents of TRC Senior Village in the Washington Park neighborhood. They can order $3 one-way rides using the Innova EV Dash– a tiny two-seat, electric vehicle that can travel 150 miles on a single charge to its lithium-ion battery.
