Self-driving cars coming to San Jose — and the streets will be safer

Earlier this year, the City of San Jose, in partnership with the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, convened a series of meetings with tech developers and vehicle manufacturers to discuss piloting automated vehicles (AVs) in the city. City officials launched their AV initiative in June and hope to begin testing on San Jose roads this fall.

This is exciting news. To realize San Jose’s goal of "Vision Zero"–a day when the city has zero traffic fatalities–there is no alternative to AV deployment.
