All Charged Up: Electric vehicle charging stations becoming more common

On Oct. 2, General Motors announced to the world it is going all electric with its vehicles. It sees a future free of the internal combustion engine.

The company didn’t announce when that point would be reached, but it is now headed that direction, as, increasingly are other major car manufacturers. To make that future possible, a new infrastructure is slowly being built across America — electric vehicle charging stations.

Up until recently, owning an electric car was for many an expensive, impractical novelty. But that is changing as more and more charging stations are installed, allowing longer and longer trips from home — even here in the Park County area.

According to the website http://www.solvingev.com, there are several electric car charging stations for electric vehicles, known in the business as "EVs," in the surrounding area — in Big Timber, Bozeman, Big Sky, Gardiner and Yellowstone National Park. There are none in Livingston.

There are also charging stations in Red Lodge, Montana http://solvingev.com/charging-stations/ggg-red-lodge-mt-59068

Be very careful of the mileage figures on http://www.solvingev.com. They may be wrong.
