Lt. Gov. Cooney seeks compromise with Montana legislature over budget

The lieutenant governor stopped in Butte late Friday afternoon to push the state legislature to work with the governor on fixing the state’s budget crisis.
The state is dealing with an approximately $228 million deficit, and the legislature is expected to cut up to 10 percent from the state’s social services that include health, education, corrections and other agencies.
