University of Montana presidential finalist Mirta Martin favors growth, not cuts

Mirta Martin said she believes it’s time to stop cutting to try to solve the University of Montana’s budget problems.

Rather, she said it’s time to start growing to meet UM’s needs, and she said she has experience doing so.

"I can roll up my sleeves and go to work right alongside with you," said Martin, who at one point actually rolled up her jacket sleeves. "I’m not an ivory tower president."
