Montana Ferry tales: Crossing the Missouri River injects adventure

At the McClelland-Stafford ferry crossing, sometimes it’s "so quiet it’s noisy," ferryman Tom Philp said.

When the wind stops, he can hear rapids downstream and anglers floating down the Missouri River.

Bighorn sheep are often spotted in the area. The surrounding bluffs are steep and layered with color.
