Governor Bullock Announces Enhanced Communications Infrastructure for Montana’s First Responders

FirstNet opt-in will provide immediate access to additional communications capabilities for first-responders across Montana

Governor Steve Bullock today announced the State of Montana will participate in the deployment of a nationwide, interoperable broadband network through a partnership with First Responder Network Authority and AT&T. The Governor’s decision to opt-in to FirstNet comes after the Statewide Interoperability Governing Board sent the Governor a unanimous recommendation that Montana to participate in the nationwide network.

"This partnership will allow us to provide our first responders increased capabilities to communicate effectively with the public as quickly as possible," said Governor Bullock. "As wildfires across the state impact our communities and our hometowns, it’s critical that we support the efforts of the men and women protecting Montana with all resources available."

FirstNet is an independent authority within the U.S. Department of Commerce. Authorized by Congress in 2012, its mission is to develop, build and operate the nationwide, broadband network that equips first responders to save lives and protect U.S. communities.
