Great Falls schools will lose $270k in funding

Great Falls schools will lose about $270,486 in Fiscal Year 2018 under the cuts triggered Tuesday by a state budget bill dealing with declining revenues with other Montana schools facing almost $6 million in reductions as well, education officials said.

"We are disappointed," said Tammy Lacey, Great Falls Public Schools superintendent, adding the district at one time was anticipating $233,000 in additional funding. "So this just wiped that out."

The cuts are for at-risk programs, special education, data for achievement and the combined block grant program.
