South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard will host the first workshop of the Western Governors’ Workforce Development Initiative on Aug. 3 & 4 in Sioux Falls starting at 7AM MST.

The central policy initiative of Gov. Daugaard’s term as WGA Chair is designed to leverage the region’s best thinking to bridge the gap between prospective workers and employers in the West.

The South Dakota workshop will begin on August 3rd with remarks from Gov. Daugaard followed by a series of roundtable discussions that will examine what states, industry and educational institutions can do to enhance career opportunities for students and jobseekers. On August 4th, workshop attendees will visit Lake Area Technical College, winner of the 2017 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence.
