Big Sky Economic Development – Bozeman high-tech company Zoot Enterprises finalizes purchase of GE Capital building in Billings

Zoot Enterprises https://zootsolutions.com/ , a Bozeman high-tech company, has completed its $8 million purchase of a Billings building that will soon be vacated by GE Capital, the finance arm of industrial giant General Electric.

Chris Nelson, Zoot’s chief executive officer, said Wednesday that Zoot will employ about 25 people at the GE building on Hesper Road early in 2018. Meanwhile, Zoot plans to do some renovation so that the building will better suit its needs. Nelson, who grew up in Billings, said there’s also a chance that Zoot will add to its Billings workforce in future years.

GE sent shock waves through Montana when it announced two years ago that it planned to sell off its financial arm, GE Capital, as part of a company-wide restructuring.

"We were tenacious in working with the governor and the congressional delegation and making sure this got the highest attention possible from GE," Steve Arveschoug, executive director of BSED http://www.bigskyeconomicdevelopment.org/ said. "We’re proud that we’re a community that has responded in a positive way from the decision that was made."
