Cure for small Montana university campuses won’t be simple
July 2, 2017 /
It comes as no surprise that advocates for the smaller Montana State University campuses in Billings and Havre are complaining they are neglected by the administration of the main campus in Bozeman. Both those schools have suffered enrollment declines — by 21 percent over the last 10 years at MSU-Billings — while enrollment climbs steadily and new buildings are popping up like daisies in spring here in Bozeman.
While the small-campus concerns should be taken seriously by the state Board of Regents, all should be cognizant that those differences are more a matter of culture, economics and geography than policy.
