A visit to the Great Plains Dinosaur Museum in Malta, Montana

Montana has a rich history when it comes to dinosaurs.

The Great Plains Dinosaur Museum and Field Station was established in Malta in 2002.

Paleontology director Cary Woodruff says some of the fossils date back as far as 150 million years. but most of the fossils found in the county are about 74 million years old.

"In Montana the most famous two dinosaurs are the tyrannosaurus rex and triceratops. Those come from rock that is about 66 million years old but Montana has an extremely rich history of dinosaurs," Woodruff said.
