OPI seeks help with Montana’s Every Student Succeeds Act plan

Representatives from the Office of Public Instruction are asking stakeholders to participate in the drafting of the Montana’s state Every Student Succeeds Act plan.

The OPI will have Montana’s state ESSA plan drafted by July 12 for review by the public and hopes to have a draft to Gov. Steve Bullock sign off on Aug. 11. The final draft is due to the U.S. Department of Education on Sept. 18.

"We’re trying to get the word out because we want to make sure we hear from communities," Susie Hedalen, OPI director educational services and ESSA, said. "We’re out in communities talking about the different aspects of the plan. We want it to be flexible with local control."
