Governor Bullock vetoes health-care price transparency bill

The MDT Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program encourages and supports the participation of companies owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals in transportation contracts.

Gov. Steve Bullock on Monday vetoed the session’s major bill to help health-care consumers do some comparison shopping, saying it might actually increase health-care costs.

"I appreciate the Legislature’s work to control costs and improve quality for (health-care) consumers," he wrote in his veto message. "Unfortunately, in its current form, it does not advance Montanans’ ability to make health care decisions in a cost-effective manner."

Bullock vetoed Senate Bill 362, sponsored by Sen. Ed Buttrey, R-Great Falls.
