Registration Now Open for FVCC’s Summer Camp for Teachers

K-8 educators can earn college credits and satisfy Office of Public Instruction (OPI) renewal requirements by participating in Flathead Valley Community College’s annual summer Teacher Camp. Designed with input from local educators, Teacher Camp is scheduled for June 12-16 and June 19-23 on FVCC’s Kalispell campus.

Teachers have the option of registering for one or both weeks of the camp and can take one to four classes. The compressed two-week schedule allows participants to mix and match classes to earn up to four college credits, which satisfies the requirements for 60 OPI renewal units.

Participants will learn best practices and take away lessons that can be implemented in their classrooms this fall. Lunch is provided each day.

This year’s lineup includes the following classes:

Week One (June 12-16): Media Arts Workshop; Early Reading Strategies for K-3 Students; Tech for Teachers; K-5 Dynamic Graphic Organizers; Integrating Elementary Science Standards with STEM Activities; Everything Google!; Hands-On Math for K-5; Integrating Elementary Science Standards with STEM Activities.

Week Two (June 19-23): Making Social Studies Relevant; Fun with Music in the General Classroom; Tech for Teachers; ABC’s and 123’s of K-3 Reading and Math; Relationship Growth for Students with Disabilities; Art, Centers and Writing for K-1.

Special tuition rates apply, and advanced registration is required. For more information or to register for Teacher Camp, visit http://www.fvcc.edu/teachercamp. Contact Emily Jense at 756-3811 or [email protected] with questions.
