Wyoming State Education Department’s long-term student goals include 89 percent grad rate
The Wyoming Department of Education has released a draft plan that, among other things, proposes 15-year school achievement goals, including an 89 percent high school graduation rate.
The 72-page document http://edu.wyoming.gov/downloads/accountability/PublicESSADraft042417.pdf is Wyoming’s plan to comply with the Every Student Succeeds Act, or ESSA, which was passed by Congress in 2015 and effectively replaces No Child Left Behind. Generally, ESSA puts more control of education in the hands of state educators, officials have said, and moves away from punishing schools that don’t meet certain expectations.
