The 2017 Event at Rebecca Farm opens volunteer signups. Take part in something great, July 19-23

Volunteer recruitment for The 2017 Event at Rebecca Farm http://www.rebeccafarm.org is now underway, according to The Event’s organizers. Celebrating its 16th year, The Event at Rebecca Farm will take place July 19-23. The Event offers a diverse variety of volunteer opportunities ranging from jump judging and hospitality to food service and parking. No prior experience is necessary to volunteer.

Sarah Broussard, The Event at Rebecca Farm’s organizer, says she is excited for this year’s Event. She maintains there is something for everyone, no matter age, interest, or previous knowledge of horses.

"Whether you’re a repeat attendee, or taking part for the first time, volunteering at The Event at Rebecca Farm provides a ‘backstage pass’ to the horses, the scenery and the comradery," Broussard says. "More than that, though, our volunteers are the heart of The Event. I could not be more thankful for them."

Broussard acknowledges that putting on an event of this magnitude is not possible without a community of volunteers. She encourages all adults and teens to volunteer. Teens ages 13 to 15 are welcome to volunteer if they have a parent or adult guardian at The Event. Children ages 10 to12 may also volunteer, but must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at The Event.

Established by the late Rebecca "Becky" Broussard, The Event at Rebecca Farm is a world-class, community-oriented event featuring courses that range from novice to Olympic qualifier. Competitors compete in the three main disciplines of eventing: dressage, cross-country and show jumping.

In 2017, organizers are hoping to fill 600 volunteer positions. With this year’s addition of The North American Junior/Young Rider Championships, which will bring hundreds more to the Flathead Valley, the opportunity to take part in something great is here. Last year, The 2016 Event had a $5.5 million economic impact on the Flathead. This year, the potential is even larger, and so community support is paramount.

"They say it takes a village – we have our own version: It takes a valley," Broussard expresses. "And we are hoping to see even more participation from the Flathead this year. There’s truly a place for everyone at The Event."

ABOUT THE EVENT AT REBECCA FARM

The Event at Rebecca Farm presented by Montana Equestrian Events is held every July in Kalispell, Montana. One of the largest equestrian triathlons in the United States, The Event is also considered to have some of the world’s finest scenery. Each year it draws hundreds of riders of all levels, from amateur to Olympians.

Rebecca Farm features ten courses ranging from novice to Olympian qualifier, which were originally developed by world-renowned course designer, Mark Phillips. In 2012, Scottish equestrian Ian Stark redesigned the Rebecca Farm courses. Known for his immense contributions to eventing, Stark has won multiple Olympic medals and was inducted into the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame in 2010.
