Mail-in Ballot bill sponsor says Speaker broke House rules with SB 305 by assigning it to wrong committee to kill it.

A Great Falls-area lawmaker carrying legislation to allow counties to have mail-in ballots for the May 25 special election said Monday the House GOP leader broke rules by assigning his bill to a committee that others believe will kill it.

Sen. Steve Fitzpatrick, R-Great Falls, said he was “disappointed” House Speaker Austin Knudsen, R-Culberston, assigned Senate Bill 305 to the Judiciary Committee, who some believe will kill the bill which has received bipartisan support, rather than the State Administration Committee.
