Bill would make ’21st-century skills’ a high school grad requirement

The bill defines 21st-century skills as a foreign language; visual arts, performing arts or applied arts; computer science or coding, or a formal career and technical education program approved by the department of education. Students could do any combination of these areas in order to satisfy the requirement.

"As our economy grows, our students need to have the skills necessary for the jobs of tomorrow," Lilly said. "Giving students control of their options allows them to study subjects they are not only excited about, but that can also have significant impact on their earning potential upon graduation."
