Senator Daines to Head Subcommittee on National Parks, Benefit to Montana

Senator Daines announced the morning of Tuesday, January 31 that he is to begin as chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on National Parks.

Public lands, especially the national parks, are the backbone of Montana and fuel for the state’s tourism economy, which supports nearly every business across Northwest Montana.

"In combination with Secretary of Interior Zinke, Montana now has great leadership in place to secure the future of our national parks and public lands. Congratulations to Senator Daines on his appointment to chair the Energy Subcommittee on National Parks." says Joe Unterreiner, President of the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce.

The Subcommittee on National Parks includes legislative responsibility and oversight for the National Park System, Wild and Scenic Rivers System, National Trails System, Land and Water Conservation Fund, national recreation areas, military parks and battlefields, historic sites, historic preservation, outdoor recreation resources, and preservation of prehistoric ruins and objects of interest on public domains.
