Montana Career Opportunity – Technical Marketing & Business Development – Sunburst Sensors

Sunburst Sensors, LLC is a small company focused on the development and manufacture of scientific instrumentation for oceanographic researchers around the world. We recently won the Wendy Schmidt Ocean Health XPRIZE with our SAMI-pH sensors and are expanding our team to include a technical marketing/business person.

We are looking for people to work in our Missoula, Montana office who can help us with marketing, customer development and general business activities. You will represent Sunburst Sensors to its customers and work to develop new markets for our instruments.

Working with our team is a "hands on" experience, meaning you will be involved in all aspects of the company. Our work environment is casual but we expect our team to manage their projects and their time as professionals.

General characteristics:

Self motivated, self reliant, and enthusiastic, with a ‘can do’ attitude

High technical aptitude with ability to understand scientific instrumentation

College degree in science or business and/or related work experience

Ability to take project ownership under general guidance

Trust in your own skills and abilities enough to see a project through to the end making the necessary small decisions along the way

The responsibilities and activities of this job are:

Learning the details of our hardware and software to a point where you can offer tech support

Representing Sunburst Sensors at trade shows and similar events

Responding to customer inquiries, sending quotes and follow-up

Contacting potential customers via e-mail, phone or in person

Assist with general business tasks, strategic planning and business development

Update and maintain website periodically

Occasional travel to customer’s labs to meet and understand their needs

Desirable skills include:

Experience with office software (Excel, Word, Quickbooks) and generally computer literate

Experience in team management, running a small business, or other leadership position

Experience with light manufacturing company, technical sales a plus

Typical work schedule is Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We offer health, dental, vision and life insurance, SimpleIRA with company match, paid holidays, paid sick time, paid vacation.
