Solar users support bill to lock in net metering contracts
January 9, 2017 /
Homeowners who have spent significant amounts of money installing solar panels on their homes spoke Monday in support of a bill to grandfather their net metering contracts.
Net metering allows those who produce their own electricity to feed it back into the power grid and get credit against the energy they use. In Montana under current agreements, customers get the retail rate in a credit for energy they put back on the grid; no money changes hands.
