Senator Tester Asks Montanans to Submit their Personal Healthcare Stories – #WhatsAtRisk Webpage

Senator Jon Tester is launching a webpage for Montanans to submit their personal stories about #WhatsAtRisk if Congress repeals the Affordable Care Act (ACA) without a plan to cover the thousands of Montanans who are benefitting from the law.

U.S. Senate and House leadership have made it clear that one of the first items on their "To Do" list in January is to repeal the ACA, despite having no proposed replacement plan.

"I know our healthcare system isn’t perfect, we still have a lot of work to do to make it more affordable for working families and to hold insurance and drug companies accountable," said Tester. "But repealing all the progress we’ve made without a plan to cover Montana families is reckless and irresponsible."

Senator Tester will be sharing these stories with the public and his colleagues in Congress to urge them not to repeal the ACA without a plan to cover those who have been able to purchase health insurance under the new law and to protect seniors from the rising costs of prescription drugs.

Since the ACA was signed into law…

More Montanans have access to healthcare than ever before.

Montanans who have life threatening diseases, like cancer, can now finish their treatments without hitting an arbitrary cap on care.

Montana seniors have saved $56 million in prescription drug costs.

152,000 Montanans with pre-existing conditions now have access to health insurance.

61,000 low income Montanans have health insurance through Medicaid expansion.

Montanans under the age of 26 can get health coverage under their parents’ plans.

Montana’s uninsured rate has dropped from 22 percent to 7 percent.

After holding healthcare roundtables in Billings, Great Falls and Helena, the Senator wants to ensure all Montanans have a chance to tell him #WhatsAtRisk if Congress repeals the ACA. That’s why Montanans can now click http://www.tester.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=4903 to tell their story.
